Stone laid for thermal station in
Bhoopalapalli of Warangal District
Hon'ble Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy laid the foundation stone for the 500-MW thermal power project in the open fields of Bhoopalapalli of Warangal District on 1st June 2006.
Estimated cost of the project is Rs. 464.73 crores, envisages an annual average energy potential of 227.15 million units, with tariff expected to be around Rs. 1.75 per unit. The two units of the project, to be funded by Power Finance Corporation to the tune of Rs. 371.7 crores, 80 per cent of the project cost, will be commissioned in July and November 2008
Conceding a local demand, Dr Reddy announced that another 500-MW unit would be added to the project and he would lay the stone for this too the same day exactly after one year. The Congress slogan "Indiramma kingdom, prosperity to every household" would not go waste.
The Rs. 2,077-crore power project will be a boon to the Telangana, ensuring quality power and ending low voltage problem to its agriculture pumpsets- 13.7 lakhs out of State's 22.7 lakhs- over 50 per cent. Power from it will be cheaper by 50 paise per unit as it is a pithead station getting coal from the nearby Singareni mines (2.13 million tonnes annually). Contract for erecting boilers and others works have been awarded to BHEL.
Dr. Reddy also announced date for commissioning the plant- November 9, 2008
Chief Minister to lay foundation for Nagarjunasagar tail-pond project
today
He will also unveil a similar pylon at Nagarjunasagar on Friday i.e 2nd June 2006, launching works on the 50-MW tail-pond dam project which will make the reversible turbines of the Nagarjunasagar powerhouse operational.
