Hyderabad, Jan. 12, Deccan Chronicle

Union HRD Minister Murli Manohar Joshi on Monday launched the biotech incubator project, which is being built at the Shapoorja Pallonji Bioth Park here.

"The first phase of the project is estimated to cost Rs. 23 crore," Bibhu Prasad Acharya, secretary, industries and commerce, said.

Of this, Rs. 3 crore would be used to set up a pre-biotech incubator at the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, institute director K V Raghavan said.  The Central government would be paying for the equipment needed for the incubator. Raghavan said the prebiotech incubator is expected to become operational later this year.

"Biotechnology companies in the Biotech Part could use it to give shape to their products," he said.
